Ever had a day where you couldn’t focus no matter what? Your brain’s foggy, the to-do list is endless, and yet you keep pushing? That was me yesterday.
And spoiler alert: I didn’t even get through my coffee.
It just sat cold on my desk as I attempted to start (and stop) yet another new project. My brain? Checked out. My productivity? Nonexistent.
Yet I kept pushing myself. Why?
Because I put so much pressure on myself. Pressure to show up for my nurses, nurse leaders, mentees, family—everyone but me.
Yesterday, my cup wasn’t overflowing. In fact, it was bone dry.
And let’s be honest—my cycle was here, and when she shows up, baby, we shut down. 😂 Still, I ignored the signs and kept pushing until, finally, I said,
“Enough.”
I paused. Looked back at everything I had accomplished this week (spoiler: it was a lot), and I walked away. And you know what? It felt freeing.
Here’s your reminder:
If you’re not able to focus or you’re completely exhausted, give yourself permission to stop.
Walk away. Rest is productive too. You cannot pour from an empty cup.
❤️ Be gentle with yourself.
Lead with love—for yourself first. ❤️
