You ever get so caught up in constantly being on the go that you forget to stop, take a deep breath, and appreciate it all?
I know it all too well. I’ll accomplish something, and before I can even enjoy it, I’m already onto the next project. Before long, I’m thinking to myself, I’m not doing enough.
That thought creeps in because I didn’t take time to celebrate the win—to acknowledge what I’ve done.
For this reason, I want to encourage you, in whatever leadership path you’re on, to stop and celebrate your small wins.
This practice will motivate you to keep striving and win even more.
You made your bed this morning. Kudos to you!
All your staff arrived to work on time. Kudos to you!
You were told how awesome you’re doing. Kudos to you!
Celebrating small wins not only gives us a moment to reflect on our progress, but it also boosts our energy and mindset.
It reminds us that every step forward, no matter how small, brings us closer to our larger goals. In leadership, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, but focusing on those little victories helps keep the momentum going.
As for me, I want to celebrate that I’ve been writing consistently every day since August 26. My goal was to write for 30 consecutive days, and I did it. So, today, I’m pausing to celebrate this win.
As leaders, we often think only big milestones are worth celebrating—like completing a major project or resolving a big issue.
But the truth is, the small wins, like finally tackling that overflowing inbox, getting a positive email from a team member, or even just having a smooth shift with no hiccups, are just as important.
Try building the habit of acknowledging your wins each day. At the end of your shift or before you go to bed, take a moment to reflect on what went well.
Write down three things you're proud of, no matter how small they seem. This habit can change the way you view your daily work and help you stay motivated.
Remember, leadership is also about celebrating the wins of others. Recognize your team’s small victories, whether it’s handling a difficult situation or showing up with a positive attitude.
A simple 'thank you' or acknowledgment can make a world of difference for someone’s day.
